Form
Height 40 to 60 feet. Single trunk with a narrow crown. Can live upto 200 years.
Bark
Grey with vertical ridges that may appear flat.
Leaf
Up to 7 inches, wider in the middle and lobed. Green with a pale underside.
Fruit (Seed)
An acorn up to about one and a quarter inches. Caps can cover as much as half the nut. Green turning brown at maturity.
Range
Lowland species predominately found in southeastern Minnesota.

Many uses including: furniture, cabinets, interior floors, barrels, fuel, railroad ties.
